A Birthday Celebration for Nature Lovers

The news is great for Canadians, and anyone visiting Canada and looking to explore the outdoors. As we close in on the nation's 149th birthday, a day when Canadians will be granted free admission to the national parks, it is a great chance to remind readers what is in store for next year at the parks.

As part of Canada's 150th birthday the Government of Canada announced that admission to all national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas will be free for all visitors in 2017.

Details on how to take part in the celebration have yet to be released, but the easiest way to take advantage is to purchase a 2016 Discovery Pass which will instantly become valid for both 2016 AND 2017, granting entry to the Parks Canada sites. The is no information yet as to how those without a pass will be able to gain free entry.

To find more details about Canada's 150th birthday celebration and some of the amazing experiences and methods to enjoy Canada's national parks please visit the Parks Canada website.

It is important to keep in mind that only admission and lockage fees will be free to guests, while other fees like guided tours, camping and mooring fees will still be charged.

This is a great way to see everything Canada has to offer in an inexpensive way.  Be sure to visit the Parks Canada website regularly for more details and begin planning your excursions early to avoid potential crowds.  It's also important to remember the old adage "Take only photos, leave only footprints" as the influx of guests could have the potential to put the ecosystems under greater stress.
